A pricing page checklist for clearer AI answers
Use a practical pricing-page checklist to keep amounts, currencies and billing terms together, with a reusable review template.
A useful pricing page checklist for AI search starts with complete, visible offer statements: amount, currency, unit, payment cadence and commitment together. Review each selector state and compare the returned page with its structured data. These checks improve the evidence available for interpretation; they do not guarantee that an assistant will cite the page or quote it correctly.
Use the checklist before requesting a provisional QuotedWrong scan, and again when your offer changes. It is designed for the person responsible for a vendor’s pricing copy, with engineering help for returned HTML, crawl controls and structured data.
A pricing-page acceptance matrix
For every row, record pass, unclear or needs change, then attach the source capture. “Pass” means the stated check was satisfied in your review. It does not mean an assistant has read the page, understood it or used it in an answer.
| Visible field or surface | Capture | Failure example |
|---|---|---|
| Amount and currency | Number with explicit currency code | A bare dollar sign with no established market |
| Price unit | Per seat, account, workspace or usage unit | A per-seat price presented as a team total |
| Payment cadence | What is charged and when | A monthly equivalent beside an annual-prepaid offer with no explanation |
| Commitment | Applicable contract term | Monthly payments that obscure an annual commitment |
| Selector state | Currency, country and billing selections | A capture that omits the selected annual tab |
| Trial and promotion | Eligibility, duration and later offer terms | A temporary price with no visible end condition |
| Region and tax | Stated applicability and tax treatment | Silently treating an unstated tax amount as zero |
| Structured data | Markup and matching visible passage | JSON-LD still naming a retired plan |
| Returned content | Response status, body and render context | Assuming a blocked fetch proves every assistant is blocked |
| Change record | Source URL, capture time and effective date if known | A new footer date used as proof the price changed |
Keep the complete price statement together
Place the terms needed to interpret a price beside the amount. A visitor should not need to combine a pricing card, an unrelated footer and a remembered selector state to know what the number describes. A short statement can be precise without turning the card into a contract summary.
Illustrative copy, not a real offer. Example prepared on 26 September 2026; no live offer is represented. Before: “Team: $20/month.” After: “Team: USD 20 per seat per month equivalent, billed USD 240 per seat annually. Annual commitment. Tax treatment and regional availability: see the stated offer terms.”
The second version preserves annual prepayment instead of accidentally suggesting month-to-month flexibility. In a real implementation, replace the final reference with your actual tax and regional wording. Do not copy an unknown field into a definitive statement. If the policy is unresolved internally, that is a pricing decision for the owner of the offer.
Separate the price unit from minimum purchase requirements. “Per seat” does not tell a reader whether one seat can be purchased. If five seats are required, display that condition with the offer and confirm that examples use the same minimum.
Review every offer your selectors expose
List the meaningful states of currency, market, billing option and plan. Capture each materially different offer, or document which states are intentionally out of scope. A review of the default US annual view cannot establish the accuracy of a EUR monthly view.
Give trial, free, promotional and renewal terms distinct labels. A trial ending in a paid subscription differs from a continuing free plan. A discounted introductory period differs from the renewal price. Keep the conditions attached when those amounts appear in headings, comparison tables or help articles.
A payment system can help identify fields your copy needs to preserve. For example, Stripe’s Price object stores currency, unit amount and recurring interval separately. That is a useful implementation example, accessed 26 September 2026, rather than a universal standard for every SaaS offer.
Inspect text and access with bounded conclusions
Google’s guidance for AI features, accessed 26 September 2026, recommends baseline SEO practices including important information in text, crawl access and internal links. For Google’s supporting links in AI features, a page must be indexed and eligible for a snippet. Eligibility still does not guarantee inclusion.
Inspect the HTML your fetch receives and the page a browser renders. Record differences caused by scripts, consent choices, authentication or selectors. A successful browser view does not establish what every crawler receives. A failed independent fetch establishes what that particular request received, including any error or challenge page.
OpenAI’s bot documentation, accessed 26 September 2026, distinguishes OAI-SearchBot for search from GPTBot for possible training use. Their controls are independent. An allow rule is permission, not proof of a crawl or a citation; a user-agent string in a log also needs verification before you attribute it to a provider.
Match structured data to visible terms
Compare each marked-up amount and plan name with the passage visitors can read. Remove stale offer data when a plan changes. Do not invent ratings, availability or renewal conditions to fill fields. Google’s structured-data policies require markup to represent the page’s visible content and do not promise a rich result for valid markup.
The pricing schema tutorial shows a conservative Offer example and explains why vocabulary validity, rich-result eligibility and accurate pricing are separate checks. A markup validator cannot decide whether your annual payment terms are commercially correct.
Copy this pricing-page review record
Use one record per offer state. Paste the following template into your team’s document or issue tracker. Keep the original capture linked from the record; a summary alone is harder to audit after the page changes.
Review owner:
Source URL and final redirected URL:
Captured at (date, time, timezone):
Product and plan:
Country / region:
Currency and amount:
Unit and minimum quantity:
Payment cadence:
Commitment:
Trial / promotional / renewal conditions:
Tax statement:
Selector state:
Visible text capture:
Returned HTML / response status:
Structured-data comparison:
Known effective date, with source:
Status: pass / unclear / needs change
Evidence gap or required edit:
Follow-up owner and date:Start with the highest-impact unresolved field rather than assigning a composite score. “Payment cadence unclear” tells the copy owner what to fix. A score such as 82 out of 100 does not explain which offer a visitor might misunderstand.
Use a fixed sample to observe the next answer
After edits, preserve the new source capture and repeat a defined question set. Record the collection surface, locale, observable model and time. Compare claims with the new source version while retaining the earlier result. A later matching answer is an observation, not proof that the edit caused the match.
The QuotedWrong method explains provisional findings and human review. For the separate question of how a dated public pricing record is assessed, see how pricing facts are reviewed at VerifiedPricing. These are different evidence tasks: improving a vendor page does not itself create a human-reviewed public record.
